Due to the shaky weather report, we are sad to announce that tomorrow’s market will be cancelled (August 1, 2010). Please mark you calendar’s for the first Sunday in September for our next event! This is always a tough call to make based on a forecast alone, but we want to do all we can to protect the artistic creations of our participating vendors. Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon, and we look forward to seeing you next month!

This Sunday is our very own crafty freedomfest–the July CBN market at Shupps! The weather looks like it is going to be perfect, so why not start your Independence Day with a relaxing trip out to support your local indie craft community? You can browse the surrounding vintage flea market venue, eat hot dogs and french fries for lunch, stock up on unique handcrafted goodies for yourself and your very lucky friends, and then reward yourself for your generous deeds with some homemade ice cream at a nearby roadside eatery. What could be more “all-American” than that?

Hope to see you there. As always, the market will be open 9am-4pm, in the “Island” section of Shupp’s Grove. Over 20 local artists, live pottery demos, plenty of space for a picnic lunch, free parking and admission! Happy 4th of July!!

New 2010 Vendor Applications available!

We are busy preparing for our second season! Applications are now available by email request, and are now available for download on the “Want to be a Vendor” page of this site. We will also be updating the vendor policies and booth specifications, so please subscribe to the site so you won’t miss any information! UPDATE: You can most of the information you’ll need on the “Vendor Info” page!

We are currently looking for volunteers in a variety of positions to help organize and promote the new season. If you have a skill you would like to offer or are open to suggestion, we’d love to hear from you! Also, if you have any genius inspiration that will make this season even better, please don’t be shy! We’d love to hear from you!!

We are already getting daily inquiries about the new season, so we are really excited to see how CBN has grown since our humble beginnings last spring. The surrounding area’s interest in craft, sustainability, and supporting local businesses and markets is increasing all the time, and CBN is a fun, relaxing way for Lancaster and Berks county families to spend their weekends.

On another note, we are trying a few new things this season. First of all, we are looking for a few sponsors to help support the event. Sponsors will be included in monthly event handouts, posters, any print and email promotions, and on the website. We are also looking for advertisers to display on the website and in our newsletters. We will be posting information on our website about the different ways you can promote your business while supporting our market, or you can contact us for more information.

Lastly, we would like to broaden the scope of the event to include more craft demonstrations and live music when possible. If you or someone you know would be interested in either of these options, please let us know right away so we can reserve a spot for you and make the necessary arrangements!

Busy busy!! Can’t wait for warm days and the new season to begin!!

Sunday, October 4th is the last CraftyByNature market of the season, and we have another wonderful batch of returning and brand new vendors! It looks like a gorgeous fall forecast–sunny and warm! Come out and enjoy another beautiful day at Shupp’s Grove. Find a great piece of handmade jewelry or a hand-knit hat to spruce up your autumn wardrobe, or get a head start on your holiday shopping. The handmade market opens at 9am-4pm. As always, admission and parking are free!

On Sunday, 15 booths showcasing over 20 artists, illustrators, and crafters enjoyed a gorgeous day in the shady grove. It felt great to finally start the season (after last month’s disappointing rain-out). If you weren’t able to make it to this month’s inaugural event, you can view photos here. Be sure to mark your calendar for next month’s event on Sunday, July 5th at 9am! We are still accepting vendors for this holiday-weekend event, which should boast great traffic at Shupp’s Grove! Come out and join what is shaping up to be a lovely community of like-minded makers!

Quick Update: Flyers available to print and post!

Please visit the “Promote” tab of the site to download and print event flyers. Please post these in your business, at your favorite local shops, on telephone polls (oops–illegal) and bathroom wall (then again..), hand them out to strangers–do whatever it takes to get the word out!

Thanks a bunch–only a little more than a week until our first event! Keep those applications coming!
